How does this camera compare to Lumix DMC-TZ40EB & what is the zoom level on DMC -LX7

    • I’ve not yet tested the TZ40, but based on last year’s TZ30, the LX7 is a different league for image quality, especially in low light. It’s a 3.8x zoom range, which is fine for general snapping but the TZ40’s 20x zoom is much better suited to shooting wildlife etc.

Thanks for the info. I’m caught between image quality and the zoom range really. I want the camera both for extensive travel [need the zoom] and for further development of my camera skills. Can you recommend a camera that would fulfil both requirements?

      • Sadly you can’t really have the best of both worlds unless you go for an interchangeable-lens camera (SLR or mirrorless) and then you can swap lenses. But that would cost a lot more money. Personally, I’d go for the LX7.

Great to see you are still making these! By far the most useful reviews around.
