    I’ve seen a few forum posts asking how long the continuous modes last for.

    The 12fps mode is for 12 frames only. The 5.5fps mode with continuous autofocus depends on speed of the card, complexity of the scene (and hence, file size). In my tests with a Sandisk Extreme III card it lasted for:

    – 22 JPEGs, then 2.7fps
    – 12 RAW images, then 0.4fps
